| Gota’s conspiracy and atrocity exposed : Vavuniya prison officers held captive is an absolute lie – Prisoners attacked with iron rods |

 (Lanka-e-News-12.July.2012, 9.30PM) Lanka e news is in receipt of information with evidence that the story that did the rounds that three prison officers were held to ransom on June 28th by prisoners of the Vavuniya prison is an absolute lie , and was one that was concocted by the Rajapakse regime and given publicity by its media in order to most wickedly devastate the fast unto death that was staged by prisoners inside the prison.
Now it has become necessary to challenge the Govt. to reveal the names of the three prison officers who were held captives . If truly there was such an incident , the Vavuniya prison officers should first inform the Vanuniya police at least over the phone. The prison should have called for police assistance. There is no record of any such complaint in the Vavuniya police records.
In the daily record book of the police where such an incident of holding captive , if reported must be entered by the Vavuniya police OIC , P H Eric Lakshman Perera , or an authorized police officer has also not been done.
At least a record made on the Vavuniya police GHT form, that these officers after they were released were admitted to Hospital is also not there. If a phone call had been made to the Vavuniya police of the three officers held to ransom , the TR book in the police should have that record. That record is also non existent. Since the date of this supposed incident on 29th June until the time of writing this article on July 11 th early morning , no police records make mention of this incident. It is also not possible to enter this subsequently.
According to reports reaching Lanka e news , the Vavuniya prisoners ( the prisoners we are referring to are those who have been detained without any charges or legal action filed , and not to those who have been tried and punished ).
It is Gotabaya Rajapakse who had given orders to control unlawfully these prisoners who were on a fast.
‘Kill these fellows inside the prison itself. Let others also be attacked until they get fever’ were the orders given by Gotabaya to IGP Ilangakoon while dispatching 12 STF officers with an IP to Vavuniya prison. The Vavuniya police had not been aware of such a group coming to the prison. Even before the IGP could inquire into this , the STF group had reached Vavuniya prison on Gota’s orders .
Based on an STF soldier’s confession who participated in this raid, the group carried with them 4 feet long iron rods.They have raided the prison like how they enter an LTTE camp. These prisoners were only staging a fast and they had not held any prison officer captive.
The prisoners who were staging the fast were having Tamil slogans written boards on their chests and bodies . Some of them had written the slogans on their shirts. The slogans stated that they be taken to the Boosa camp for detention and to stop the lies that are being reported to court by the prison officials.

It was murdered Ganeshan Nimalruben who was leading the protests. Who is he? Orders had been given prior to the STF officers on how he should be ‘specially treated’.
Two days before that too , the group that was fasting had been mercilessly assaulted by iron rods. These attacks have been specially aimed at Nimalaruben who led the fast. When the Vavuniya police had gone to pick the injured , Nimalaruben was already dead. The Vavuniya police OIC Eric Lakshman Perera had made a record after the STF attack that Vavuniya unarmed prisoners had staged a fast ,and there he has made no mention that any prison officer was held captive by these prisoners.

However when the STF officers were taking these prisoners into custody there had been a scuffle between them . Some have got injured including three jailors who were bruised lightly. But there had been no mention in the police record that the prison officers were held to ransom or prisoners were in a critical dying condition.
In any event this ghastly incident is only second to the earlier killings of unarmed prisoners in jail in 1983 employing the forces of the Govt. In the world, this is second to the killings by Hitler in Bookenwerld prison camp.
When Lawyers tried to meet prisoners some days later who were witnesses to these brutalities of this MaRa govt., Gota totally opposed this. Though a medical report was given that Nimalaruben died of a heart ailment , the MaRa govt. has ruthlessly refused to allow a funeral arrangement for him. It had even objected to allow the performance of the funeral rights according to their own religious beliefs of an individual who was treated as a prisoner without any charges against him nor a case being filed against him.
The judge who gave permission for this certainly would have known he is acting contrary to his conscience and against justice . But perhaps he would not have known the subsequent consequences of such an order. May be he was also not aware of the disastrous results following the actions of the defense Secretary, the IGP or their atrocious henchmen.
