(Lanka-e-News-17.June.2012, 9.30PM) As the present Prime Minister (P.M.) D M Jayaratne is sick and unable to continue in politics, the regime chief MaRa has decided to appoint Gotabaya Rajapakse his younger brother to the P M post, according to inside sources of the SLFP.
When attempts were being made earlier to bring Gotabaya to the post of Prime Minister , with the assassination of Bharatha Lakshman and with the allegations that were leveled against Gotabaya that he rendered assistance to the murder and since the SLFP seniors opposed it , this move receded..
Tremendous opposition within the SLFP ranks is mounting against this move to appoint Gotabaya , the younger brother of the President to the P.M. post on the ground that when there are so many seniors , how come Gotabaya is being chosen for the post ?.
A senior SLFP member speaking to Lanka e news said , this is the beginning of the end of the regime. This move clearly testifies to the monumental fear gripping the regime chief in respect of the SLFP party though it is his own too. This also betrays that the President is unable to trust anyone outside his family circle.

It is also learnt that the regime chief is seeking to bring in the Finance Ministry secretary P B Jayasundara to parliament and appoint him as the deputy Finance Minister . It may be recalled that the Supreme Court earlier on delivered a verdict against Jayasundara on corruption charges and ordered that he shall not hold any position . Nevertheless , after the chief justice went on retirement , the regime chief via another panel of judges got Jayasundara appointed back as the secretary of the Finance Ministry. All the regime’s illicit and underhand transactions are manipulated by Jayasundara at present. |
