I clearly stipulated my terms when discussions were being held for my release -Fonseka
(Lanka-e-News-15.June.2012,5.30PM) Sarath Fonseka who was released from prison on a Presidential pardon from MaRa visited Mihintale on the 12th to pay homage to the deities. When he addressed the media there , he said the security contingent of 15 security personnel provided to him by Gotabaya is inadequate.

As an army commander who gave commands to conclude the war , even a child knows what amount of threats I am facing. During the period of the war I had a security contingent of about 500 personnel.
Those are not threats that ebb away in a year or two. Those groups who had these threats as I faced are still being provided with security contingents of 100, 500 and three thousand personnel.

Therefore anybody should understand this security contingent of 15 personnel is insufficient. They are taking great pains to provide this security to me, but they must also understand that is not enough.

Nevertheless , whether there is security or not , we will not get scared and go into hiding. At the beginning when Tiran Alles was having discussions I had explained many things to him. Those were not conditions.

I clearly laid down what and what should be there for me. If not I will not accept the freedom even if it is offered , I had told.. One of the requirements was the security contingent for me .. They have given me a security contingent which they feel in their view is adequate. I do not agree with that, Fonseka observed.

Fonseka’s wife on the day before the release of Fonseka told the media that there are no conditions attaching to Fonseka’s release from this side or the other side.

Fonseka stated after his release , he was not aware of the nature of the release.
