| President’s wife’s parental home burgled – over Rs.ten million in cash and goods stolen |

(Lanka-e-News-12.June.2012, 8.00PM) Rogues have broken into the parental home of Shiranthee Rajapakse , the wife of the President Mahinda Rajapakse and had made good their escape after robbing valuables and cash t o the value of over ten million rupees., according to the police.
Nishantha Wickremesinghe the Chairman of the Sri Lankan Airlines and the brother of Shiranthee Rajapakse lives in this parental house located at Galkissa .
At the time of the robbery , President’s wife’s brother had not been at home. Among the articles stolen worth over a ten million rupees there had been five million rupees worth of jewelry and foreign currency , the police say . |

May we recall that after the Eelam war , a large quantity of foreign currency and gold were retrieved by the Forces from the LTTE areas , as revealed by media reports. But so far the Rajapakse regime had not revealed as to what happened to those articles. If they were given to the custody of the Treasury there must be records of it . But , even today the Parliament too has not been told what happened to all those cash and gold. It is also not recorded anywhere that these were returned to the people who are being resettled.
Shiranthee Rajapakse and the President are on a tour of Italy during these days. |
