 (Lanka-e-News-10.Jan.2012, 8.30PM) With the dawn of the new year ,the criminal white Van syndrome has also a taken a new turn for the worse pertaining to its abductions and murders- as the crimes have risen so are its novel methods lately adopted…Since the beginning of the new year until the 6th , the white Van abductions have occurred at the rate of one per day. Except in one case of abductions , in all others , the victims were ruthlessly murdered almost immediately and their bodies put on public display, according to a set plan.
During the period of the war , that is in the year 2007 to 2009 , over 500 Tamil and Muslim people in Colombo and outskirts were abducted , and so far not even a hair of theirs had been picked up , let alone their bodies had been discovered. The nation remained silent assuming that they were LTTE members. Subsequently , abductions were committed on the Sinhalese people with journalist Prageeth Ekneliyagoda being among the first or second of the victims who went missing. That was in the early part of the year 2010.Thereafter , a number of Sinhalese nationals were abducted by the Van and killed ; even their bodies could not be found. Only , the body of Sudu Seeya was found drowned , when washed ashore.
But with the dawn of the new year 2012 , the white van crimes had taken a new dimension – practically all victims of abductions were murdered and a deliberate display of their dead bodies had been made . It is very evident from this that the aim of this new method is to instill fear in the public based on a cold and calculated plan.
This novel abduction method was recently inaugurated by the Rajapakse regime in Kelaniya against its own SLFP members with the beginning of the new year. Local body members of the district who had got frightened had not only assembled at the local body chairman’s house in fear of their lives , but have also initiated peaceful protests which are now mounting. On the 8th , they have held a public meeting in this connection , and a huge crowd attended it.
Meanwhile based on reports reaching Lanka e news , the regime which is engaged in committing abductions via the white Van, killing and displaying the bodies in public is itself gripped by a monumental fear of an imminent people’s rebellion . These criminal actions and novel methods of the regime are primarily aimed at warding off those possibilities by creating a fear psychosis among the people.

It is learnt that the regime chief had entrusted this novel white Van criminal operations to Major General Jagath Alwis , the Director General of the Army chief of staff division. The Army intelligence unit , as well as five main divisions including training comes under him. This Major General reports direct to the regime chief on the white Van operations and its criminal progress.
This Major General was originally in the security contingent of the regime chief . After obtaining a training in China , when he returned to Sri Lanka he had been saddled with this post. Until then this post was held vacant .The police protection to this white Van revolutionized operations is provided by DIG Anura Senanayake. The Major General is a very good friend of DIG ‘s late younger brother too.. The close association among them had provided the right climate and groundwork for the white Van criminal operations.

When the regime chief promised to the close friends of Donald that he would release the latter who was abducted by six armed personnel recently in the white Van , it became very clear that these unlawful abductions done outrageously by the white Van are with the knowledge of country’s leader , and he is therefore absolutely responsible for these heinous crimes.
